Note on this line

The county is a separate government with its own budget. On a Melbourne Beach tax bill (millage code 34X0) it levies 2.8643 mills for its general fund, plus the library district (0.3242), mosquito control (0.1340), South Brevard Recreation District (0.3000) and environmentally endangered lands (0.0733). The Brevard County Sheriff runs the county jail. Its FY2026-27 budget — $2,425,831,993, adopted September 22, 2026 — is walked department by department on the county’s own site, brevardfl.countycommons.us.

how this line is traced

Reconstructed — and the trail stops here. To see who this money actually reached, someone has to pull records, minutes, or a check register (that's Docket #3). It often stays dark.

There's another way. If the county paid this line from a transparent, line-attributed account, it would publish its own itemized transactions — payee, amount, date — the moment each payment cleared. No request required; the dead end becomes a list. That's the idea behind receipts by rails, filed as a solution to the transparency question — read it and weigh in.
