Support a local food hub with shared cold storage and a commercial kitchen

To: the Melbourne Beach Town Commission (Mayor, Vice Mayor + 3 Commissioners)

Food hubs collect produce from local farms and sell it to schools, hospitals and stores. In Michigan State University’s 2025 national survey, more than half of food hubs said grants made their sales to institutions possible. We ask Melbourne Beach to support a food hub with shared cold storage and a commercial kitchen that local growers and food businesses can rent.

When it reaches the goal it’s handed to the officials named above at a public meeting, and their answer is posted online. This is a petition to your elected officials — like the clipboard at the courthouse door. It does not put anything on the ballot; that takes the state’s official petition process. Names are never shown publicly. County Commons — an independent, nonpartisan public-records project.
