To: the Melbourne Beach Town Commission (Mayor, Vice Mayor + 3 Commissioners)
Open-pollinated seed can be saved and replanted; hybrid seed does not come true from saved seed, and patented seed can’t legally be saved. A seed library lends seed at planting time and takes back a share at harvest. Seed Savers Exchange keeps a collection of more than 25,000 varieties. We ask Melbourne Beach and its library to start one.

When it reaches the goal it’s handed to the officials named above at a public meeting, and their answer is posted online. This is a petition to your elected officials — like the clipboard at the courthouse door. It does not put anything on the ballot; that takes the state’s official petition process. Names are never shown publicly. County Commons — an independent, nonpartisan public-records project.
